Hi all, and our German friends in particular,
Late Wednesday afternoon I'm planning to visit the Marineflieger museum (Aeronauticum) in Nordholz. On Thursday, I'll have pretty much the whole day to drive from there to Arnhem (Arnheim) in Holland, and I'm looking for some more stops suitable for aviation photograpy in the Cuxhaven - Bremen - Osnabrück areas.
My interests are pretty broad - I like airliners big and small, military aircraft, helicopters, light aircraft to some extent, and old aircraft.
Is the Nordholz airbase any good, traffic and photography-wise? Bremen-Neuenland? Ganderkesee? Munster-Osnabruck? Rheine-Hopsten? Where would you go? Any other mildy interesting airfields, heliports, mueums or gateguards along my way?
Thanks for any tips,
Peter

Hi Peter,
I fear I'm too late now...
I have been to the museum in Nordholz last year and it's definitely worth a visit.
The staff is very friendly and if you ask they will show you the interior of the VFW 614, the Breguet and one of the bigger helis.
The airbase itself is not that interesting for spotting. There are only very few movements and the spots are not that good.
I would prefer Bremen. The traffic is imo the most interesting and there some pretty good spots.
FMO isn't that bad either but the traffic is slower.

Hello Stefan,
Yes, I'm back home now.
Wednesday was good, I visited the Spottertag at Wittmund (which was the reason for the trip), and the museum at Nordholz, which I thought was very good for photography late that sunny afternoon. I also made short stops at Leer (photographed an Islander), Sande hospital (ADAC chopper was away) and Bremerhaven ( a few light aircraft). Tipped by a fellow spotter at Sande, I drove to Lemwerder in the evening. But that's a strange airfield, between dykes and the River Weser. It's probably me, but despite driving around for some time I never saw an aircraft or runway, although admittedly they're really there...
Thursday was not so good, at Bremen airport there seemed to be a reasonable spot in the western approach, but it was exposed and really too hot that day. I did get the ADAC BK117 at the nearby hospital, an a.net first, and then nothing except a lame FMO control tower shot until Teuge in Holland (quite good if you can live with Cessnas and Robinsons).
Thanks for replying anyway!
Cheers
Peter
