hi folks
This a/c pic got rejected to due having too soft edges. The thing is, when I try to sharpen more on photoshop, jaggies will start to appear. I would thus like to know where the sharpening has gone wrong and how i can imporve it to have this picture enter the database

Hi,
You can try to apply selective sharpening : sharp more the a/c but not the hydraulics & wings (high contrast btw black and white in this area and jaggies can appear).

Quoting TimdeGroot (Reply 1): Front of the aircraft looks blurry, no sharpening will save it I'm afraid

its funny some pics on the database actually look more blurry than this. I'm going to try and sharpen this selectively... but if it doesn't work, no worries,

What kind of sharpening do you use? USM or smart sharpen.
What I usually do is set smart sharpen it at
Amount 500% or less
Radius .2
Remove Gaussian blur
and check more accurate
Then sharpen more then once until I see jaggies then back off one step. Then create a layer cntrl J (default) Sharpen again.
Select the eraser tool. Go over the jaggies and they will disappear. Then Merge the layers
Cntrl Shift E. Then repeat above until the picture is sharpened.

Here is pretty much the opposite : look at the tail logo ! Isn't this already pretty much jaggy at places of high contrast(between red and white) ? At least that's what I was told to be jaggy
I'm sorry for all those questions but I want to get the sharpening question clear,
I just wanted to thank you all for your help
Regards

The example you used has no blurry parts to it at all.
