Hey Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what size of zoom I would need for taking landing jets from the "speedway" end of the runway at Nellis??

Will 500mm be enough? Will I lose too much light using a 2x?

Thanks for any replies and please excuse the ignorance!!

Alastair.

With a 2x on a 500 you will not be able to hand-hold.

500mm is perfect for the speedway. between gates 2 and 3 is usually the best.

good luck!

EDIT: there's also Cheyenne Ave for 21 launches and/or recoveries on 3..

Any news on any activity at Nellis Sep 1-4? I will be in Vegas and am thinking about trying to see what I can find there or at LAS.

Can I get the review on the Nellis locations on lense lengths needed. Since its still going to be hot I presume that early AM will be the only option at both locations.

I'm sure I can pull the LAS spotting locations from other forum posts.

Thanks

Sorry, for the takeover on the post but didnt think to clog the forum with another Nellis question

Oh, it's a big pretty white plane with red stripes, curtains in the windows and wheels and it looks like a big Tylenol.

LAS is great for spotting, you need a ladder in the back of a pick up truck. So, we rented a truck and stood on the roof, hope that helps....
