Spotting @ LAX In'n'out Burger Help!

Hey guys,

I know this has been asked a zillion times, but I need assistance with this matter.

I'll be traveling from LAS to LAX to make a connection to MIA on Nov 11th. I am doubting whether to depart from LAS at 6.15am on WN so I can do some spotting at this awesome plase or simply go straight for my connection departing from LAS at 9.55am

I wanted to know if it's really worth to go to this place and if it's easy to reach by taking a cab... I should be there from 7.30am until 10.30am... I was hoping the Qantas A380 could make it but seems like it wont.

Any help would be reaaaaally appreciated.

Thanks you all!

Enrique

It's not that bad of a cab ride there. AM traffic could be tough around the airport in the morning but even then it would be that long of a cab ride.

Conditions may not be that great around that time if the marine layer has rolled in during the night. It can be a fun spot when the heavies are coming in and it's close enough that you don't need a long lens unless you want close up nose/tail shots.

The toughest part may be getting a cab back but I think if you walk over to the yellow dot parking structure next to in n out, they may have a free shuttle to get you back to the terminal.

Oh, it's a big pretty white plane with red stripes, curtains in the windows and wheels and it looks like a big Tylenol.

You can even walk there, at least I could from the terminal KLM flies in to. Might be a pain if you have bags though

The walk from WN's terminal is very easy and takes maybe ten minutes. I used to do it all the time.

Yea it's a cinch. I walked from the WN terminal to the Raddison. Won't the light be tought that time of year. Does the sun get far enough over to shoot those arrivals?

Hey Tim. Thanks for your advise! I'll rent a locker or something, but be sure I'll go there at least for some minutes.

Uhhh, I had one of those when I went to California last year and man, those were good burgers! I'd love to have one that day, but at 8am I think it's a bit crazy  Smile

LOL those were good fries too. I remember how they used to cut them.

Talk about calories- Order a 4x4 and animal style fries. i think that has enough calories to last you a week.

A few summers ago me and my dad snuck out of the hotel at 8am to go to IN N out, left the rest of the family in the hotel  Smile. Breakfast was a double double and some fries. Great breakfast man! Also, at 8am it's overcast at LAX, until around 11AM when it starts to be broken, then by 1PM its clear for the restof the day until about 830 or 9 when the marine layer fills the sky again. So, plan for that.

No way! I can eat with the best of them but that is suicide. I saw a woman in Laughlin try to eat animal fries and a double double and she almost went down. It's just too much fat and salt being injected into your body in a short period of time.

Hola Enrique.
I think that taking a cab from the Terminals to the in n out can be done (cab drivers might protest a little, but that's life Big grin and the customer is most of the times always right), but I have some doubts for the return to the airport. I've been there twice for a little time and honestly I didn't see many chances to get a cab back to the airport. Perhaps you could search on the forum ( civil aviation if I remember ) about a transport on a yellow bus with some black dots (or perhaps someone from LAX) can help you there.
Have fun and if you want a burger go ahead and have it, but do yourself a favor and don't order coffee. It really sucks.

Yes. The "Parking Spot" Parking Garage is right next to In N Out. They have free shuttles back and forth to all terminals to the Garage. Just hop on one from the terminal (they are yellow with black dots) and it will take you to the garage next to In 'N' Out. Then catch the bus back to the airport.

Have fun

Do they have any stuffed milkshakes in there? That would be a nice add-on to the above-mentioned junk!

Woah, then no go for me! That would mean waking up in LAS at 3am ot at 7am! Going to LAX in overcast weather and with 7 hours of flight to go, having woken up at 3am I believe its no good combination! But I'm down for a burger anyhow!

But then again maybe you'll like Fat Burgers..

They do have milkshakes there. In fact when I was there last week a high ranking military official stopped by and had one with him on his way out.

a 4x4 is about as big as you can get now. I know they used to make to order whatever you asked for. I think the largest they used to go was 10x10 but at that point you are talking some decent coin for a heart attack that has to be consumed with fork and knife on its side. You might be able to get an 8x8 now but that would be pushing it especially at the LAX location because that place is packed during the lunch rush. Its not uncommon to have 30+ cars in queue for the drive through and probably 15 people deep in the walk up. Those guys work their a$$ off!

They did a 100x100 once: http://whatupwilly.blogspot.com/2006/01/in-n-out-100x100.html

I'm a huge fan of In n Out....but I have to say that 100x100 doesn't really do it for me.

Their shakes are delicious, I might add.

One of my friends who worked with me at WinAir ate a 12X12, large fries and large Coke by himself. None of us could believe it. That 100X100 sure looks disgusting, I will stick to my 3X3 spread only. I do want to check out Heart Attack Grill, looks good but I have to say I still love Sonic Burger. Got the best Cherry Limeade drink around!

Remember to let us see some pics even if some are not good for uploading here. It's good to see 'location' spots. I like them a lot.

The In and Out is a good place. Was in LAX for the first time last October but have to say I much preferred Imperial Hill:

We were there a week ago. Marine layer was spotty. I was there from noon to 1430 and it got worse at times (this was when I was at Imperial Hill).

If you are going just to be close to the heavies, go to In and Out and have fun but for photo purposes, your pics will be backlit from there this time of year no matter the time of day. From Imperial hill, you'll be perfect with sun all day but you need a long lens.

Quoting NIKV69 (Reply 5):

No, unfortunately. You might get lucky if you stand just a touch north of the stanchion, but then he'd probably have to deal with some real tight shots and oncoming vehicular traffic.

I didnt realize In and Out was open so early. I had a 4x4 this past Sunday. The fries are
substandard.

If you go there and want breakfast food, there are several places included an IHOP a few blocks north of In and Out on the same street.

Lastly, regarding sun patterns this time of year, search in this forum for LAX tips from unsername Diamond. He posted a link to something that would show the sun angles per locale.

During the winter Imperial Hill has good light in the afternoon with the sun a little farther south. Cant wait for some storm from the north to hit SoCal, usually the day after is nice and crisp with great visibility and hopefully it will be on a day free from work. Beats the typical hazy afternoon. Its great when you can catch a heavy taking off with the LAX background and the Hollywood sign visible as well.
