Hello, this is my first post on a.net as a first class member. I have been reading the forums for about 5 1/2 years now, on& off.
I don't know if this has been discussed before, but, I was wondering why I can't download/view some of the member's photo albums, any ideas anyone?

Quite often over the last couple of months, I have found that I can view Photo Albums as thumbnails but as soon as you click on an image for a better look, an invalid link is displayed. I did raise this issue quite sometime ago and it did work for a little while after an update to the site, but it was broken again a little later.

I don't yet have a membership to post in Site Related.

An example of the output:

ERROR
The requested URL could not be retrieved

While trying to retrieve the URL: http://www.airliners.net/photo/-/-/1...3D_%271397510%27_OR_photo_id_%3D_%

The following error was encountered:

* Invalid URL

Some aspect of the requested URL is incorrect. Possible problems:

* Missing or incorrect access protocol (should be 'http://'' or similar)
* Missing hostname
* Illegal double-escape in the URL-Path
* Illegal character in hostname; underscores are not allowed

Yes, when I click on a thumbnail in an album(some,not all) it opens a new tab for the pic,but, the picture does not appear.

I have solved the problem; when you go to a user-created album, mouse- hover over the picture you want to see, just above the task bar on a windows computer you will see the address come up, write the first photo id that comes up(it will id the picture by subject) then type this into the browser : www.airliners .net/open.file/------/ (putting the photo id # between the / /'s-like this www.airliners.net/open.file/0988346/L) if you don't want a large picture to come up, omit the "L" after the last / .

Essentially correcting the URL.
It would be great if this could be addressed by the site developers, as the album display code is spitting out invalid URL syntax. Potentially an area of lots hits for these pictures I know I usually just close the album and go elsewhere when they don't open.

That is what is happening, it seems to only happen with the pics that have no info added to them!
