Hey everybody,
This Friday Jonathan Guidone, Nathan Lentocha, and myself will be heading over to the West Coast to take in some of the goods LAX has to offer. We are planning to hang out by In n Out most of Friday evening and then at Imperial Hill/In n Out on Saturday evening. I was wondering if, considering the fact that the weather looks great, anybody else from the area was planning to be around LAX on those days as well. All of us really wanted to meet some of the local photographers, and it should be a fun time. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Rent a car and drive to Las Vegas instead. The Aviation Nation airshow will be taking place at Nellis on these dates.
Chances are with the way the weather has been here lately that you will get the marine layer in the morning. We've actually had a bit of rain here the last few days and are expected to have a few more showers in the next few days with a couple of Low's offshore.
If it rains and clears out real well then you will be rewarded with cool, crisp and most importantly extremely clear skies. But it is early in the season so hopefully you'll get lucky.

I honestly had no idea about Nellis, but it's rather impossible anyway. None of us are old enough to rent a car, plus none of us have ever been to LA and we wanted to see that area more than anything else. Plus, our flight back to the east coast leaves at 1215 am on Sunday, so there just isn't enough time. Thanks for the heads up though, maybe next year! So I'm guessing weather forecasts for this time of the year are rather inaccurate? Right now this weekend is looking excellent. Anyway, hoping for the best!

Las Vegas is Nikon country and I'd say your welcome up here any day!!
Too bad your not gonna have the time to make it to AN. I'd suggest you jump on a WN flight and I'd pick you up at the airport and drop you again. Saturday looks like it's gonna be the better day for light after watching the local weather forecast!!

If I didnt already have some things that need to be done on Saturday I'd take you up on that offer Dave. I'm still itching about driving out there late Saturday night to catch the Sunday show. The 15 is such a pain from LA though! And only for an afternoon makes for a long trip back to LA Sunday night. I'd hate to miss the show but I'm affraid another year might go by.
Hows the spotting at LAS going with 25/7 shut down?

Oh how I miss our favorite touch down spot on 25L.
We have had problems trying to find other GOOD locations and even got visited by the local police while shooting on Tropicana ave the other day.
This closure is sure gonna hurt all winter long and I hate to think of all the missed shots I could have had with the new camera I just bought!!
Its located on the airport grounds, so you don't have to worry about missing out on any spotting/photography.
Wow I never know about that! Looks amazing, we'll be sure to check it out on Saturday afternoon. Where are you going to be on Friday evening? We'll most likely be by In n Out.

You have to love LV Metro! I did ok once shooting over by the Town Square area for the 1 L/R arrivals. There wasn't much I could take other than typical side on with blue sky background but I could fill the frame without much reach and at least had the sun to my back. Though I sat in the car most of the time not to draw attention.
How is the Thomas & Mack area for arrivals from the North? I still have my Rebel Card and can be a um... photog student??? I would think I would need quite a bit or reach from there though.

Hey all,
It was an amazing first trip to LAX. We ended up being at Sepulveda on both evenings because on Saturday we had trouble finding the bus line that goes to Imperial hill. But it was worth staying at Sepulveda, that sunset was unreal! It's a shame nobody else was out there on either evening, weather was pretty much beyond perfect. Although on Saturday morning some guy with a 100-400L was yelling at me from the parking lot as I was standing on the 96th St Bridge. From what I understood, he was saying that I can't be up there and I'll get fined 500 dollars. Was that one of you guys? By the way, we got stopped by the LAX Airport Police on Friday night while taking some night shots on tripods. Coolest cops ever!

glad you had a good trip. hopefully the little bit of wind we had helped to clear up the basin a bit for you. good you got the nice police, there are a few who can really hassel but that seems to be more in the remote parking lots. have a camera around your neck when walking to your car and they will swarm on you until you are in your car and on your way after answering the typical 20 questions
