I'm hoping on visiting LAX during that time, not 100% sure though. Hoping for some Imperial Hill departures and great weather. Just hope the fires get put out soon!

Does anyone know when FJ's B744 is coming back?

If my husband and I keep our Thanksgiving plans to meet family in Santa Monica, then I'll be shooting the Qantas A380 Friday morning when it lands at around 9:50am (QF11). I'm sure we'll hit both Imperial Hill and the In-n-Out.

Now thats a downer! I'll be returning from a business trip to YYC on Friday but wont be getting in until 1500. Maybe I'll be able to catch a glimpse of it upon landing or the downwind leg of our approach. But that would mean having to check my bag so I have room to take my gear.

Since I'll be in the area I may stop by Imperial Hill in the late afternoon on the way home.

Oh, it's a big pretty white plane with red stripes, curtains in the windows and wheels and it looks like a big Tylenol.

Give Dave Budd a shout I know with the LAS runway closing he would love that trip. I wish I was out there but won't be in town will early Dec.

Would think 25L, 24 is a tad short for that monster.

I think Qantas usually lands 25L. Emirates has been on both sides, so that is a crap shoot.

Well now that I know the for sure the A380 will be there on Friday, I for SURE will be there! I was planning a motorcycle ride that day, but I think I'll be there and go riding later. It'll be my first time seeing the A380. I can't wait to see some heavies again, since I never see anything in IN. In N Out is my first stop this Friday night when I come home for the week. I look forward to meeting some of you in person.

I believe when then QF first came in on Oct 20 that it used 25L and I am pretty sure it will be the same. This is the longest of the runways at LAX.

From Imperial Hill you will probably only be able to catch the roll out unless you've got plenty of lens. You may be better off over at the Proud Bird off of Aviation to catch it on final. This is where a lot of guys went when it first came in. Hopefully it wont be overcast.

Looked up the schedule and it looked like the 380 arrived into LAX today as well. It is the 18th right?

I should let him know. We shot saturday and sunday together at the sports park/town square. Just not the same with 25L closed...

She landed on 25L this morning...heard it on liveATC. Looks like the Proud Bird will be the place I wait for it.

For those who don't know:

as of now Qantas A380 Flight 93 from Melbourne arrives every Monday and Wednesday morning around 7:30am. A380 Flight 11 from Sydney arrives around 9:50am every Friday.

I'm pretty interested in getting the QF A380 from Imperial Hill, similar to the angle of the aircraft in this photo:

Do they rollout of 25L earlier? How long of a lens is required to get such a shot?

Otherwise, Proud Bird sounds nice too.

There are a few shots on various websites that show the A380 doing a back taxi on 25R/7L after landing 25L, I assume because of weight issues. For a shot like the one posted above with the A380 200mm on a 1.6X camera would probably be more than enough. Hope that helps.

Here's a link to a map of the IN N OUT
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...spn=0.008632,0.019312&z=16&iwloc=A

and here's a link to Imperial Hill....

I'll be at Imperial Hill around 9ish or so. I'll probably be wearing a grey fleece and have motorcycle gear with me, since that's my only ride for now. I'll also have my handheld radio and flight guide with me. If anyone wants to know what my bike looks like to look out for me, check out my profile pics. I hope to meet some of you there!
Cheers

Heavies come and go all day. Most Asian carriers depart by about 2pm or so. It depends on what you want to see.
