Hi All
Currently we are not able to screen watermarked images. Those that have been uploaded with watermarks are on hold until a solution has been found by DM. Obviously due to the tragedy with paulo this solution will take longer than we had expected.
So there are basically two choices. Either be patient and wait it out, or upload your images without watermarks and reupload them later to get the watermark added.

So I don't get banned for doing it anyway, I will ask if this solution is appropriate.
Can we as upload our photos with the watermark already imbedded in the image so that we don't have to check the watermark box on the upload page? i.e. upload the image with the watermark, right click and save the image (with watermark) from the queue and upload it again with without checking the watermark option. This gives the uploader the watermark and gives the screener the ability accept/reject the image.

That will not work. In addition to the watermark, a copyright bar is also added to the bottom of the image. When you save the image while uploading, it will be saved with the watermark and the copyright bar. If you upload this image again, it will add another copyright bar to the image. Hope this helps.

I didn't think I needed to state that the copyright bar at the bottom would need to be removed. I stand corrected.
Quoting TimdeGroot (Reply 7): And that would also mean FC members will see the watermark, which is not an option.
Well right now, First Class members are seeing none of my new photos, including the watermark, until this gets fixed. How about we upload with the watermark now and then re-upload properly when this problem gets fixed?

Sorry but that is not an option. In addition to the issues I described it would also be difficult to screen those images with watermarks visible.
I don't think it's a good idea, because -and this is a photograph quality advise as well- every time you save a jpeg image, the image is losing quality even if you are using the best quality-size settings. Try to have your pictures saved only one time in the editing process.

Tim,
For accepted photos that are missing. Can we NOW reupload them and request priority screening with a copy of the acceptance email?

I understand about situation and no priority for missing accepted photos...But is there no rejection for reupload of missing photos?
If I inform to screener this is missing accepted photo by comment then will it be not rejected?

Is there any estimate as to how long we might have to wait for a solution? A few days/weeks/months? That would probably help some of us decide whether or not to wait it out or re-upload without the watermark.

We are not sure.
The tragic death of Paulo has caused this delay to be far longer than we could ever have anticipated and his last message to us was concerning this very problem a couple of hours before he died. Bearing in mind that it is now (as I write) the middle of the night in California, still the weekend and the day of a memorial service I would not expect to hear anything for another day or two.
If you have watermarked images that are queued and wish to remove them from the queue that is likely to help is in the long run. It would be better still if you are willing to wait before you upload them again as we already have that massive backlog that we have been unable to screen.
Screening has actually been going very well but for the waiting watermarked images.

So does it mean that if your picture is in screening (with a watermark) from the 16th, that you (screeners) are still able to reject them and not just add them?

Paul
It is impossible to be specific and a lot of them will simply be added at the click of a button as soon as the problem is sorted. We continued to screen after the problem was discovered by simply leaving a comment for the image to be added once the problem had been resolved. Some other images will have simply had first, some second screen and we cannot check without a great deal of searching, time that would be better spent on screening what we can.
If you have them showing as in screening you could be pulling accepted images and the older they are, the more likely that is to be the case is the best I can offer.

I was just wondering....what if we put our own watermark on our images? Either a personal one or the Airliners.net logo. I would prefer a watermark on my images even for the ones that are seen by the screeners and First class members.

Just to clear things up, are the reuploads with watermarks adding ok?
So if I upload a shot that I would prefer watermarked and it gets accepted, can I immediately reupload the watermarked version with the reupload working successfully?
