Why are they closing it? Is it permanent?

And people mock my decision to boycott MCO all together.

Here is hoping that they are closing it to surprise us lot by building a spotters park.

Yeah I'm sure that's what GOAA is doing, closing the red lot to surprise spotters with their own spotting park....keep dreaming.

Maybe cutting back to save money. We'll see what happens come the summer time though.

Makes sense if it is a pay lot and once things improve and the lot is needed it will open again.

Even looking at Google earth, the lot is only 1/4 full.

Too bad I didn't get a chance to try the 100-400mm over there :/

Is there an exact time on Monday that they are closing it? What other places would there be to spot?

Dreaming is better then the alternative, in which we accept that they are building a massive pit to throw us into after they torture us for being evil.

You're the only one that's accepting that, the rest of us go out there and spot to our hearts consent, hell we've even thrown a party or two out there. Had a great time. And not a problem. Never saw that pit either...

On second thought though, I say we go ahead with your boycott idea, I'm sure GOAA will be so dumbstruck with not having to chase off spotters anymore, that they'll fold and send us a formal apology asking us to come back to not only a new spotting park that's located right next to 17R, but they'll also close 17L/35R, there by forcing all the heavy European flights to land back on 17R so we can photograph them!!!!

Its going to be great.

Second post was a joke mate.  Sad If there are more spots out there, then brilliant. I'll even roll out.

Sorry about that one then, kinda flew off the handle there.

Its always kinda hard to tell if someone is serious or not.

Apologies.

Well, to be honest, if the GOAA is coordinated enough to dig a torture pit for spotters that would be rather impressive.

Granted my internet humor is a bit macabre...

Damn shame they closed it. The Red Lot was to Orlando what the Kaagbaan was to Amsterdam. The spotting potential of MCO is practically gone now. Well, there is still always Tampa...
