This morning (+- 1000UTC), I uploaded a picture of the first ERJ-170 for Fuji Dream Airlines (Registration JA01FJ). At that time, there was only one picture of this A/C in database (with Upload date: 2009-02-20 14:48:41), so I was careful to upload the mine within 24 hours of that other photo (Upload time: 2009-02-21 02:40:09).
I sent 2 e-mails to the screeners, but my picture remained listed as "not screened yet" for several hours.
So, I sent another message, this time via A.net "Contact Us" window. Later, I have received an e-mail from a screener, giving me appologies for the delay and saying that my photo was "currently in screening"...
Strangely, till now (2300UTC), my picture remains on queue, listed as "not screened yet"...
What is happening?. If someone could reveal the reason for this (unusual) situation, I will really appreciate it.
Of course there haven't been any changes in the priority upload rules.
It seems as if it took a while for somebody from the crew to read your priority request. When finally somebody wanted to screen your picture it just wasn't accessible because somebody else had opened a bunch of pictures for screening (yours included) and did not finish his work. Whenever a picture has been opened for screening it is blocked for some time so that it cannot be screened by two screeners at the same time.

Your explanation was very opportune, but the reason of this "blocking" is very suspect...
Some time ago, a friend of mine told me that some A.net photographers, with the use of a malware, get to access the database and manipulate their own pictures in queue, increasing their acceptance ratio.
This is not a affirmation, but only a suspect which must be verified by A.net IT security staff.

Pictures are blocked for a certain time once they are opened for screening so that no other screener than the one who opened them can see them. In your case one screener opened a bunch of pictures, yours included (could have been me I think) , started screening and closed the screening page without submitting the results (that can happen in error when the browser page is closed). The pictures are still blocked then and do not show up in queue for some time.
When another screener wants to open them he gets a "no new photos" message and in your case he concluded that the picture is still in screening.
So in the end a very simple explanation for your problem.
