Hi everyone!
I want to ask those of you who know something about spotting at KEWR. I saw few topics which were saying that security don't like when someone is taking pictures. But those topics were from 2003/2004 year. I'm visiting USA this summer, and I would like to know if it's worth of trying to take some pictures without meeting with the authorities or something. If it's possible it would be nice, and due to this possibility maybe you could tell me some fine places to take a photos.
Much thanks!

As you can see not many responses to your inquiry,it's not a terribly friendly place for photogs however advance notice to Port Authority of NYNJ may help you or simply take your chances, get in some shots before someone spots you...no big deal, they will just tell you "can't do that here" and ask you to move on. Some of the NY photographers know some local key points for shooting. Personally, I stay away from the place. I have had to get out on the runways @ EWR for shots and it's a bigger deal than the other local majors.

JFK is much better. I almost never try EWR, just not worth the hassles. There are a number of decent (off-airport) spots that we frequent around JFK. Yes, sometime people call the police, and they have to come check us out, but they have gotten used to us, so it's usually not a problem.

If you have already done so, check out http://www.nycaviation.com You will find spotting information and maps for JFK (and LGA as well), and the forum members are friendly and helpful.

LOT011,

When I asked a question about NYC-area spotting a few months ago, someone offered me this link:

http://photovation.net/Spotting/SpottingLocations.htm

I ended up not going to NYC after all (for reasons that had nothing to do with spotting), but it looks like it would be very helpful for JFK and LGA spotting. Unfortunately there is no EWR info on this website, though.

P.S. I hope you enjoy your trip!

Hi Maciek.
Actually I was planning to get a trip to NYC area for some spotting (that includes EWR). I was there year ago by a car and trying find out where and when... JFK a lot of european airlines , LGA mostly low-costs and EWR - mixed. I thought it will be nice trip but... Always but. One trip three airports but when I found during my trip to NYC EWR is not accesible so the count drop to two airports. Then I found what airlines arriving to LGA - the same I can find here at Chicago area (MDW). So one good airport during one trip. And I was blinded by my buddy - Miami. It was perfect shoot for a spotting trip. I am planning to visit MIA next month (spending my miles from Miles-and-More program). A lot of european and south american airlines there so should be nice out there. And almost perfect wheather (hopefully) makes my decision.
Maybe think about this?
Regards , Gabriel

Hey Gabriel.
Thanks for the proposal but It's impossible. The only option is JFK. But maybe in the future, who knows.
