Hello Everyone,
I am a new member and I am hoping to upload my first photo ever. So forgive me if I posted this in the wrong place and forgive me if my question seems a little bit stupid.
I have a Canon Powershot A470, its a tiny digital camera (look it up on Google Images).
I took a really good shot of an AI 747 in RUH, and to me it looks like a really good photo. Is it eligible to be uploaded on airliners.net? Or do I need a certain type of camera?
Also does every photo HAVE to be edited before it is uploaded, if yes what do I have to do?

Best to give us a link to your photo so we can see it. I will tell you this though - if it's unedited it will not make the grade here. All images must be edited for A.net. Of course generally the less editing required the better the photo straight out of the camera.
Best thing to do is read the criteria and also the illustrated guide to rejection reasons - it's all readily available to view here.

Thats for sure. I remember learning that lesson 8 or 10 times at the start of things
Even some of the VERY BEST DSLR cameras can't produce A.net calibur shots right out of camera. They all have to get some touching up done through photoshop.
Also, we could help you out alot more if you posted the image

AIRLINERS.NET CREW HEAD DATABASE EDITOR
You can also upload to our "sister-site", myaviation.net. The uploading is done through the airliners.net interface, but there are no quality-based rejections. This way, you can get the hang of uploading and display your photos in a manner similar to airliners.net as you learn how to edit/retouch your photos.

Yes, that would be too big to be uploaded here. I assume you haven't resized it yet?
For starters, I recommend using irfanview (http://irfanview.com/), a basic photo editing tool you can improve your images with. It's pretty straightforward to use.
Resizing a photograph with paint is possible as well, just hit STRG+E and select width=1024, which is commonly used. The height will be calculated proportionally.
When you're done, save it as .jpg (minimum compression if possible) and go to http://imageshack.us/ to upload it.
I hope this helps.

Hi all,
sorry for "stealing" the thread (just respecting the rules, like don't create another thread if there's a similar one already posted, etc), but I'd like to know if budget camera pictures have a chance to be uploaded here.
You see, today I made my first upload, did everything required, re-sized the picture in order to be below 1MB, etc. Its quality isn't of course as good as it is in most pictures (if not all) since it was shot by a budget camera (Fuji-film A100/150 to be exact). Will this last factor cause my upload to be rejected?

Maybe, maybe not. Quality is a crucial factor, I think we could judge better if you showed us the picture you've uploaded. A.net standards are very high, but if your image shows something exceptional and/or is of high interest, it might be accepted despite lower quality.
Best regards.
