Hello,

I went to the Luchtmacht Open Dagen(Airforce Recruting Day) in Volkel yesterday, and took about 400+ shots, and here is what I got what I thought was the best and did my best editing it accordingly. Any advice is appreciated.

Cheers, Marius

Hi Marius,

Most of the shots are too distant for A.net. You've got a couple of shots that I suspect will get a motive rejection (the Gulfstream IV with the 4 cars looks nice, but unsure of the motive). The A-10 just looks wrong, especially the clouds (too much photoshop?). The C-17 tail doesn't do it for me either.

You could try cropping the shots a bit closer (the Orange Lion looks ok, just needs some more cropping).

Yes, I know I need a better lens, I have a 18-55mm lens.
Let me redo the A-10 and then crop the lion.

F-16 decent quality but too low in the frame and need to crop more off the left side - it is not centered left/right. Keeping the van completely on the photo is not the way to go.

The A-10 - no chance, sorry. Too low in the frame, but the bigger issue is backlit, and when you adjusted levels to get the plane showing some details, the clouds are blown out.

I do not think any of those shots will be accepted here, sorry.

The F-16 shot is the one with the best chance.

Ouch that must be frustrating! Taking 400 odd shots and realizing that none will be accepted.  Confused

Keep them in your personal collection, though.

Thank you all for your comments, but what I really wanted to figure out was how can I get better pics next time I go spotting?

Thanks,
Marius

P.S. If anyone wants to critique all my other shots in the album I would much appriciate it.

Be aware of the movement of the sun during the day. The A-10 shot should have been done in the morning.

You obviously need a longer lens, especially here at Volkel where you are kept miles from the flying.
