I'm going to Albuquerque form the 29th to the 20 and was wondering if anyone was spotting and is there any good places to get both military and civil jets.
Thanks,
Austin

There are good places to spot aircraft, the layout of the airport makes it possible to view the backside of the A-gates, A-2,4,6,8,and 10. Currently, the ramp is being torn-up and redone, but gate A-10 is still in use. You might see Northwest Airlines, US Airways, and Delta Airlines. To my knowledge, US uses gates B-2,B-4 and possibly B-6. Delta/Northwest uses gates B-8,B-10, and possibly gate B-6. It is harder to spot at the B-Gates when you go past security. ABQ also has a big area with chairs in between the 2 terminals, it has 2 levels, and you can see all the aircraft land and depart.
Just give me a Boeing 777-2Z9, and I'll be happy :)

Yes when i was there before i went to the area where the A gates where and it was pretty good. Where is this large area between the 2 termianls? I thought there was just one main terminal then military on other side?
Thanks

AFAIK, Military operations are completely separated from civilian ops. The middle area between the terminals are restaurants, large open viewing areas, coffee shops, etc......
I guess the "terminals" is/are actually 1 terminal, with an "A" side and a "B" side.
There are also "C", "D" and "E" gates and they are for commuter jets* and propeller planes. (1-2 gates each). Those 3 gates are actually accessible before security, and they are close to the A and B gates that you see landside (before security). You can probably go through these smaller terminals, and take shots of planes on the A and B ramps. If I remember correctly, the small C gates open up into the back of theA gates, and the D gates open up into the back of the B gates. I am not sure about the E gates, though.
I am basically living in ABQ for the summer, so feel free to ask as many questions as necessary, and I will probably give you a good answer.
