Do certain airlines tend to use certain runways at LAX, or is there no particular order? Does anyone know where the best place for spotting V Australia, Cargolux, Malaysian Airlines, Emirates, Aeroflot, and KLM is? My guess is at the In-n-out burger, but any input would be appreciated. Also, does anyone of any good spotting places other than In-n-out burger, imperial hill, and the proud bird restaurant? I have always wondered where some of the pictures in the database were taken, but I have looked, and cannot seem to find those places. Any input is greatly appreciated,.

In my opinion it really varies.For example,Ive seen an Emirates 777-200LR and a United Express EMB 120{They serve Terminal 8} land on runway 24L from the In N Out park off of Sebulveda Blvd.You'll see a variety of aircraft at the In N Out Park{ I also saw some of the airlines you described} So overall it's just luck
Exactly. The tendency, everything else being equal, is for S.Pacific (QF,NZ,TN) to land on the South runway, European and Asian the North. Domestic will prefer to use the one closer to their terminals. Traffic demands mean this is only a guide, it's a toss-up like the man said.
Long-haul departures seem to use the South side more and since this is almost always the case with cargo flights, I think Imperial Hill is the top spot, quantity-wise.

If I were to stay at LAX from 1-7 p.m., would it be smartest to stay at Imperial Hill for 2 hours, and then switch over to in-n-out? The airlines I would most like to shoot are V Australia, Emirates, and Swiss. Based on my time period, it would be better to shoot these airliners landing rather than taking off. Where would it be best to be?

www.visitinglax.com and www.spotterswiki.com these sites will help you. If you get to LAX in early or mid morning check out the Flight Path museum as well. It is located on the airport on Imperial Hwy just before Imperial Hill, good collection of stuff to see and if you are lucky you may get a chance to go out on the apron. A few shots on here have been from there like some of the first V-Australia shots from LAX.
Oh, it's a big pretty white plane with red stripes, curtains in the windows and wheels and it looks like a big Tylenol.

Check the schedules, I think most QF will already have landed by 1pm, most likely on the South side. I have never seen SR or EK use anything but the North, which is no guarantee they always do.
