Hey

I ususally spot from the mound at 23L at Manchester but would like to try some landing shots on 5R. I have seen many photos from a location opposite the airport pub, where there is a raised sort of mound, trouble is i'm not to sure how to get there and what the options are for parking etc.

Any help would be great.....

Location details for Manchester are described here:

The spot you're referring to is the 23R approach. You need to head down Moss Lane, just off Styl Road (B5166) until you come the the s-bends. You'll see a gate and style on your right. Follow the footpath through the field and it'll bring you out by the runway oposite the Airport Pub for views like these;

Parking is by the side of the road but please park sensibly as the road is quite narrow and used by local residents.

Brilliant thanks Darren, excuse my mistake of runway 5 in the first post

So you can park just before the s-bend and just after

just after

Probably better to park after where there is dead space at the side of the road next to the perimeter fence (leading up to one of the emergency gates at the next bend)

Park in the left hand one, where you've boxed "Moss Ln."

I park about 50m before the S-bends normally but after the houses. I'm normally there early though so first car to park. If not, I'll go past the S-bends as Oly720man mentions. Make sure you're well away from the crash gates though as fire engines regularly pass through the area going to / from the training rig. They need plenty of room to menouver!
