If the colour is caused by the sunset (low sun), then state that in the comments. The colour should be believable.
In a sunset, the whites are not going to be white - they will have a orange/red cast. In this case, I think - make the sure the contrast is correct, and make sure that the colour cast is believable.
I wouldn't recommend to correct the sunset colour cast, because it makes the image look strange. Note - I'm not an a.net photographer (don't have more than 50 images accepted here) so I probably don't know what I'm talking about.
The second image, no chance for here. Keep it though, news sites sometimes like those kinds of images.

For the first, looks good, agree to comment that taken at sunset, don't try to correct color cast. Looks like a sunset shot.
The second has awesome, and i mean awesome colors and "mood". I think though (the dreaded "but") the quality of the base aircraft image isn't there. If it was my shot, I'd print it and hang in my office though.
