Those are some sample images of the new Nikon D3s and the 70-200mm F/2.8 VRII lens. I'm extremely impressed with the quality, especially ISO6400. ISO1600 is equally impressive.

The ISO102,400 is pretty useless for our purposes here, but, as written elsewhere, it would be okay for those emergency photographs, and may be okay for print use in the most desperate circumstances.

That said, I won't be rushing out to get one yet - the current gear can make itself some more money first.  Wink But if I were in the market...

Hpw about that ISO for night cockpits ? Looks good. Of course with f/2.8 lens. They could still improve the 1.5x crop megapixels to at least 7 or 8. 5.1 is not really interesting. Maybe on the D4 ?

Anyone who can't take a good picture with that combo should hang up his tripod.

I need to win the powerball lottery so I can pick up a D3s/D3x and accompanying lenses, then also pick up the Canon equivalents just to have the best of both worlds! ha

Indeed. I do well with just the D700 and non-VR lens (24-70mm). With D3S and VR II lens, it's impossible not to get a sharp photo, unless you are so hamfisted that you might as well not bother.
