Hi,

I will be traveling to US end of January and I would like to use this opportunity to spend a weekend spotting in some nice (warm) location,
I did the similar thing this year already with Miami in January (very nice) and LAX in October ( I thought it's always sunny in California  Sad) so probably something else would be preferred.

Any tips?

Las Vegas comes to mind? Phoenix wouldn't be too bad either.

Nothing quite beats a cold January day in Boston when there's fresh snow on the ground and a deep blue sky... unfortunately, you're really rolling the dice at that point.

Guys,

thanks for the suggestions

BOS - well, most likely May not January  Smile
LAX - what is the chance the sun will be there? As I mentioned I was there back in October but I had two days of clouds and rain  Sad
At the moment I think may be I should go back to MIA and check out FLL?

Sun is almost a guarantee in LAX come January. Was in LAX back in January 2006 and had an awesome time shooting from Imperial. Hollywood sign was clearly visible!

I am also planning a LAX return but maybe in 2nd week of Feb as things stand.

Well we just had a very nice day on the 29th, and then yesterday it was raining all day, but it started to clear up a bit last night. Now when I woke up this morning, it's really clear! The wind pushed the clouds away, and the rain cleared the air up. It's very similar weather in January to what it is now. So LAX is definitely a good option, although you said you were already there.

I go to school in Indiana, so I am used to cold, and the weather now is so hot I am sweating! It's definitely worth a visit here. As mentioned above, PHX and LAS are also good ideas. Tuscon wouldn't be bad either, it's a pretty cool place.

Lense waterproof neoprene cover works well too.

Hah, my parents were here in LA in October, and had 4 days of cloudy and hazy weather.

However, January is one of the clearest months in LA (the winter is when the smog takes a break). You can see the San Gabriel mountains just about every day, which can provide a nice backdrop for some photos:

Those snow-capped mountains in the background of the 2nd photo are around 50 miles from LAX.

Of course, this is also part of LA's "rainy season". But remember, that's a relative term; there's not actually that much rain.
