I was checking the web for illegal use of my images (just Google the filename of your shots) and found several of mine being "hosted on Photobucket" without my permission. So I wrote Pbucket and asked to have the images removed.

Well, it seems that notifying image hosting site Photobucket that images have been directly ripped off from A.net (still have copyright bar on bottom) is not sufficient "proof" that the images are mine or that I hold the copyright. So they want me to jump through hoops to prove to them each and every image that a person has put into their photobucket account actually belongs to me.
I'll let you guys know how this all turns out.

Photobucket reply.....................

Oh how tempting it is to email abuse to abuse@photobucket.com, but *ahem* we are above that. Perhaps.

It is darn annoying how much rubbish some sites make you wade through to solve a simple problem though.

You could simply write an email back with the rules of posting on this site. We all know that on here, if it isn't yours you can't post it (unless you have written permission and other goodies giving you the "OK"). We all know if we did said abuse above, that we would be banned for good from here just to start. I would email them the rules of this site and then some EXIF data on some of the shots just for examples.

Although Photobucket is asking for more effort than I believe is necessary, it's really not that much work.

As I read it, they're asking the following:

1 - Describe what has been stolen and either attach an original or provide a link

2 - Provide a link to the stolen example

3 - Provide your contact info

4 - Paste that legal statement into your message

5 - Paste one of the two sentences into your message

6 - Attach an electronic signature

More work than necessary? Perhaps. But I personally wouldn't describe the process as 'over the top', or 'jumping through hoops'.
