I just got this lens but would like to add some extension to it. I was thinking of buying the Canon Extender 1.4x II. Do you have any suggestions? I do miss the reach of my old and crappy lens. Thank you.

With the 70-200 f2.8 you should have no problems adding the 1.4x extender.
I personally have the 2x and am very happy with it. Does it compromise image quality? Sure it does, but it is most noticeable because the 70-200 f2.8 by itself is so amazingly sharp. But if I compare images taken with the 70-200 + 2x @300mm with my old 75-300 @300mm, then I am still better off with the extender.
But if the 1.4 is enough for you, definitely choose that one. You will be very happy with it.
