Hi,
in March 2011 I'll fly to BCN for Spotting...
I got no car, but maybe if possible(?) I can rent a bike...
So , I already heard about a platform for 25L/R arrivals, but is it the best and can I reach it with a bike?
And where to go if 07 is active?
Can I stay at the platform and take photos of the departures from rwy 07L/R? The most important is, that I can see the registrations...
Many questions, I know, but I've never been in BCN for spotting before.

If you have a driving license and the money, I really recommend you to take a car, or try to make an appointment with a Spanish spotter to assist you. Distance reaching both the platform for 25R arrivals (and another spot is quite a bit further down the road for 25L) is quite far from the terminal. During my visits, runway used changed during the day also, meaning a drive to the other end for runway 07L arrivals (07R didn't try myself). For 07L, a parking location near some kind of nature park is available and in that area you'll be able to find more locations for spotting as you wish (different angles etc)
I'm really not sure if rental of bicycles is available at the airport.

Alex, from the older terminal it took me about 10 minutes to drive to the platform, which I might add is only good for 25R arrivals/25R line ups. 25L is another location entirely. The platform is very good, very spacious. I was there for one week last September and it's true, rwy ops switched occasionally so be prepared. There's 2 nice little spots on the beach for 25L/07R departures, good for the bankers. Don't know if it's regular or whether or not it will effect you, but I flew in a couple of Tuesdays ago (Red Wings Tu204) and the Orenair Tu204 was there too. Saturdays are also good for Russians. For 07L ops the new terminal walkway is great.

Thanks a lot Spence!
Looks really good. Ok so if 25's are active I'll go to the platform, IF the wind changes an rwy ops change to 07 I'll switch over to the new terminal walkway spot.
Last question, how can I reach this spot or can you show me the position on google maps

There's the terminal transfer shuttle, if that's what you mean? Otherwise walking from basically anywhere along the NE side would take forever...!

Well, the "new terminal walkway spot" is northeast of the airport?
I mean the blue aircraft, you said, it's good for 07L ops, does it mean that from there I can take photos of taxiing aircrafts TO the runway eg 07L or just normal take offs?
I'd be very happy, if you could show me the position for 07 ops on a photo or google maps?
Cause I'm searching around the airport and don't know, where the position could be^^
I thought I found a public bus running from a railway station (Prat town?) to the area east of 25R. I can't find it back though, and it must admit it does seem a bit unlikely, since the area looks pretty baren.

Columbia3, the terminal spot is the other side and direction to the platform, ie. in the SW region of the airport. Sorry if my wording confused you. I would imagine the walk between both spots impossible if for nothing else but the time it would take!
