AIRLINERS.NET CREW DATABASE EDITOR
Quoting scbriml (Reply 1): Indeed he has. He told me he was just finishing off the editing of the very first aviation shot he ever took. It was the Wright brothers' maiden flight!
It's a pity we only accept photos as I believe he was there when the Montgolfier brothers made the first balloon flight and made a pencil sketch.
Shall I delete my photos from the queue now before he rejects them in retaliation for that comment?
Seriously though, congratulations in advance on such a phenomenal achievement Mick. Very much looking forward to what you come up with for number 10,000! You've covered many types and genres of aircraft over many years - long may it continue!
Nobody can doubt the significant contribution that Mick has made to the site in terms of his photo collection and time. But as a man who no doubt cares little for all this statistical nonsense, he probably hasn't even noticed that he is one short of such a major milestone .

What an achievement!
And what is more, you have helped me (and plenty other photographers) a lot with editing, certainly with the old slides!!
I am still waiting for the moment that we can meet up in person, and when I can say a big "thank you" to you in person!!

I haven't met you in person yet Mick but have had the good fortune to chat with you per email. So it pleases me to say well done mate on so many photographs here! You are certainly the one I think of regarding someone who really uploads exactly what he wants for no other reason than you like the diversity and challenge of every picture! Nice one Mick!

Congrats to you, Mick, for this incredible record and milestone for the next 10,000 pics - a pleasant mixture of old and new ones, past and present, always nice to look at! And all the best for your new challenges as head screener, that position will surely benefit from your long experience. Thank you very much for your always kind help! Stay as you are, and keep on the good work!

AIRLINERS.NET CREW HEAD SCREENER
Thanks for all the kind comments and e-mails I have received.
As Damien intimated above, I had planned to take something especially for my 10,000th but the weather, amongst other things, has repeatedly frustrated things and perhaps an oldie was more apt anyway. The oldies are however more or less finished now.
I am thrilled to have made it to 10k and am proud to be a part of the team here too and I have made a lot of friends along the way. If I start naming people, at my age I will undoutedly forget someone, so the easiest thing is to thank all my friends.
With my new role I will undoubtedly be slowing down my uploading, though I still have plenty of stuff that is new to the database and whilst most of it is not popular, that remains the most important thing to me, the database.

Somehow I like to browse around general aviation airfields lately, and when I come home and look for the locations and aircraft I photographed in the database, I often find that the only existing pictures were shot by you, either recently or 25 or more years ago.
I haven't met you in person, but we've mailed a bit and from your forum posts, too, I am positive that you are the most significant contributor to this website, not just because of your knowledge, experience and now this record number of uploads, but also as a wise man of great morality (I hope that sounds positive enough in English).
