Hi all,

Booked a return flight to LPA from BHX for the fantastic price of £30 all in! Downside is that I have to fly for just over four hours with Ryanair...

I've seen some great images from this airport and was wondering if anyone could give me details/directions? I will have a car.

These spots are most appealing to me:

What times are these spots good from/'til? And how much lens power will I need? I have a 70-200 and a 100-400 but obviously don't want to take both.

Thanks,

Karl Nixon

Hi Karl,

I think the first photo is from an area that is OK all day:

I wrote directions for somebody, I'll dig them up for you. Will you be renting a car? This spot is doable by public bus.

Have a look in Google Maps. The afternoon spot is at 'Urbanizacion Vista Alegre', immediately to the southeast of the runway. The morning spot is simply towards the west across the network of paths. There are local spotters there and no security problems at all apparently. It was windy, though, the days I was there. You can also shoot aircraft taxiing towards the runway, but it requires rather more than 200mm I think.

For the approach shot 200mm should do, certainly for airliners.

I don't know about other spots.

Note that there's a GA airfield near Playa des Ingles, where you might be staying.
