Hi all,

Want to give MAD another go since it's been a few years. Have only ever been in Jan/Feb and am looking at early March - will heat haze be an issue from the Barajas mound? I know minor haze can be hidden when resizing for here but I'd rather see no evidence of it whatsoever on the full-sized versions.

Hi Karl,

what location do you mean exactly? Actually both, the approach area and the taxiway spot feature a mound.
Also, when are you planing to go? I will be there on March 7th all day long with a friend and we have two seats open in our rental car.

Coincidently I arrive at lunchtime on 7th March! I was referring to the mound where I took the following a few years back...

Are you following me Karl?   First Lanzarote, now Madrid! I'll be in Madrid as well in March but not the 7th. It will be interesting how things get on for you Karl, I had been worrying about the heat haze myself, especially around the middle of the day. I would love to get out to one of the runways for a bit of spotting but without a car it looks next to impossible so the mound it will have to be!

Can you say 'Beer Can' without sounding like a Jamaican saying 'Bacon'?

Hi Karl.
Been there on the 26th March last year on that spot and had no problems, but weather was humid and that helped a lot. I have a friend who went there in January this year and with near 0ºC he had heat haze on photos. I think the point here is relative humidity. If it is dry it doesn't really matter how cold or hot it is because you'll have heat distortion, on the hand the higher the RH is, the better will photos look like. Good luck with the weather and good luck with the aircrafts
