As you can see in the topic I have few questions especially to dear spanish friends and all those who have been to LEMD. I'm spending 6 days in Madrid this August (WYD 2011), but I would not forgive myself not to visit the airport.
1. What is the attitude of the airport authorities to spotters. Can I take photos with no stress or should I be careful with it (Airplanes and Terminal outside and inside)?
2. How about safety. As a tourist I will have got large backpack with me and camera for sure. Do I have to be careful and keep my eyes 360 degrees? By safety I mean here whole Madrid, not only the airport, but the whole city. (Please don't feel insulted with my safety questions. I have never been to Spain and I think as every tourist I'm a bit worried how is it going to look like.)
Mayby if you know some nice places to take pictures I would be grateful for that information (Can you see planes from the inside of the terminals, of course without crossing check-ins?)
Thank you all in advance. I'm waiting for any answers impatiently.

1. I've been four times in the last three years and at no time did I have hassle from Spanish authorities. In fact the Guardia Civil often peep and/or wave at you! There is no real need to go into the terminal unless you are just spotting.
2. I've always felt safe around the airport, and in the city too. It's a lovely city and as long as you apply the same common sense you would any other large European city you should be fine. Do be aware however that central Madrid is a haven for crafty pick-pockets!
