Hello,

I've been looking for spotting locations at San Francisco International that do not require that 300mm + focal lengths, and I came across these pictures.

Does anyone know where these were taken at and some directions to get to the location?

My guess would be the Terminal 2 air train station or thereabouts.

I'd say try contacting the photographers! 9 times out of 10, fellow photographers are very willing to help out others. But I am inclined to agree; seems like the T2 air station.

Presumably the BA and AF shots are from Airtrain, but the EVA shot is taken from farther west-- somewhere west of the west ends of runways 28. (Pic probably isn't level-- unlikely they'd be banking left.)

The Term 2 Airtrain is 800 meters from the 28R centerline, so you still need that 300 mm. The A380 pic only spans about 5 degrees horizontally; the BA 744 pic spans about 10 deg.

The BA and AF pics were both taken from the T2 AirTrain station and require a good amount of zoom (150mm for 747 taxii, 200mm for takeoff)

The EVA one, however, was most likely taken from the SFO employee parking lot. This is located on W. Field Road and can be accessed by AirTrain if you get off at the West Field Road station. This is my favorite spot and as close as you can get to the action without needing too much zoom. Another guess would be the rental car center parking garage, but that's only good for takeoffs.

Kevin, I responded to your email. AF is taken from T2 Airtrain station.
Zoom was at 165mm (1.6 crop) but to fill the frame you would need 200.

Heat haze is BAD now...

I went there a couple weeks ago and all my shots were screwed up by heat haze.
