This seems like a Mobile Phone shot PhotoStitch, still pretty neat though.

I was gonna cast a PC vote on this, just so beautiful, but it must be past the 7 days because I am unable to vote. However, just wanted to at least post here. Just a really classy scene captured very well.

Thanks Ron!
I'm rather happy with the shot myself and glad I got to capture it the way I did, especially considering that between seeing the plane, considering the potential for a nice shot, getting the camera out of the bag, screwing on the right lens, unscrewing the lens caps, checking the settings, aligning for the shot and pushing the trigger only about 30s elapsed.

These two for me. Not so much for the quality of the pictures as such (they're nice shots), but more for the nice coincidence pertaining to the date and place the pictures were taken. Both taken on the exact same day at the same airport, 25 years ago: August 3, 1986 at Frankfurt! Alastair's photo was accepted in 2005, while Marc's shot was accepted yesterday. The two photogs must've been quite close to each other when they took their shots, and may or may not have realized it. Small world

Just look at that shockwave. Quite often you see the condensation rings but I don't think I've come across one of these (probably haven't looked hard enough!)

Man! I just saw this old photo which kinda vindicates Bo Derek's famous quote: “Whoever said money can't buy happiness simply didn't know where to go shopping”
What a stunning image to bring up his 200th accepted shot! JPC is one of the contributors to this website that I'm a fan of. His airport overviews and exotic shots from Afghanistan are as beautiful as his cockpit photos!

Hi there - just to clarify, the photographer does retain rights to their photos. That rule - which do need to be updated to reflect digital submissions - harks back to the times when people mailed in photos.

Thank you for the kind words Paulo, I was delighted when I got home from LHR and saw the results full screen, they looked good on the back of the camera, but you can't be certain from that.
I am delighted to get such an amazing reaction to these uploads, I have 3 shots in Photographer's Choice at one time which is a dream come true
Makes up for having my monopod with new ball head stolen on the same day left it against the perimeter fence for less than 5 minutes and it was gone.....lesson learned the hard way
Hopefully I can get some more shots from this trip uploaded shortly

Quoting acontador (Reply 34): This picture is about so much more than "only" aviation...superb Ed!
Great photo, agreed Tony & Acontador. I'm glad Ed stuck to how he wanted this to look, instead of doing the cookie cutter approach and editing it to how Anet wants it to look.
I would also throw a kudos (good job) to the screeners accepting this! The low in frame and off center aircraft is refreshing and appealing to the viewer. Excellent job by them getting this in.

Hey thanks for picking out my Bone photo..
It was with the Mk4 and 300/2.8.
It's a brilliant lens but great for these types of shots as it's so light and well balanced.
Pretty lucky as the original has only a tiny bit of room from nose and tail to frame edge..lucky!
Great thread as always with brilliant photos...love Ed's 330 shot..

Jep, that was my first thought too. But when you read the comment and look where the smoke comes from (not the wheels) it makes sense that they have a smoke-thingy on the aircraft.

Hello Phil.
I thought the same when I saw this one - lovely. I must say, initially my eye was also drawn to the far right and I thought it looked like blotchiness in sky, but I stand corrected on that score. Beautiful light and exposure.

I didnt see this shot anywhere in the first 3 pages of the Top of 24 but you saw it.
Where / How can I vote for it?
It seems Natalie wasn't alone on holidays (see Markus Adank picture), but the low light, coupled with the background and the retro scheme makes it an outstanding picture.

To my eyes atleast, not much difference in what are State-of-the-art seats on the 787 (Photo on the left - for comparison) & her Orange Upholstery.

Superb shot - so pleasing to the eye and so many details.
I was legitimately surprised that I was able to make the shot of ZK-OKQ work. It is the only shot I've ever had accepted that was shot at ISO400. I have to thank Ron Stella for a tip that made me less afraid of higher ISOs and Dana Low for helping me in the pre-screening thread. That shot wouldn't have been possible without their help.

Andy knows how to do some nice A2A photography, and in this case took very well advantage of the position and lighting conditions, resulting in a lovely picture:
