I've recently realized I've potentially screwed up a number of shots by not having my camera in the proper autofocus mode while shooting, so I'm trying to figure out how to pull that information from the photo's metadata if it's possible. The body in question is a Canon EOS Rebel XSi.
may be able to get the info you want (and a whole lot more besides). It does show the focus mode for my 7D and 1D, but I haven't got a Rebel to test it on.
I tried this for the first time on a file after processing - its amazing what data it can extract, including all my camera raw processing settings, the history of the file processing .... even data from my monitor calibration. Not sure I'll ever have a need for it, but nice to know where I can get it if I do.
