Hi i have a Sony HX1 ive taken a few decent photos from what i think but when it comes to the editing i struggle ive used things like jidd webb's tutorials but still my photo's never come out how i want them too, i want to be able to get my photo's screened on what are regarded the bigger sites ( Here Jet photos etc.) i have CS5 and i know how to work most things but what i want to know is what i need to edit when it comes to it, and if im taking my photos with the right settings too and if my camera is able to get photos on here thanks

A key phrase here is 'quality in = quality out'. Editing should just be like putting a bit of icing on a finished cake, rather than a huge effort to rescue a bad photo. Of course I'm not suggesting your original images are bad, but technique is often to blame when a lot of editing doesn't get the desired result.

Perhaps you could post examples so we can determine where the fault lies?

this is edited a little bit, it may not be to others but this was to me a 'good' shot straight from my camera but im aware it probably isn't! but thanks take a look please.

I see you have the same local airport as me.  

It's certainly not a bad photo but it does have slight faults. It's very flat (colourless) and a little too bright. There is also a touch of noise visible in the shadows of the port engine. It does however look like it can be pretty easily fixed.

The Etihad is not so good I'm afraid - quite noisy generally and lacking punch and contrast. It also looks very soft.

The A380 is backlit and suffers similar faults.
