Well another year is nearly done and I'm sure we have all had some days at the airport this year that were better than others.
Post your favourite from this year, not the biggest hitter, but the one that gave you the most satisfaction.

Merry Christmas to you as well, and to the rest of you fellow a.netters!
My best of the year, didn't get to go out much, but this is my favorite:
It was my first trip to the Maldives and this was taken from the front of the beach bungalow I was staying at. I couldn't have asked for a better location!

I didn't shoot much this year, but the few images I took turned out all right. Incidentally, my favorite shot is also the one who captured the most views.

This was the year I finally signed up to a.net and really dove into aviation photography... so far it's been a great learning experience and lots of fun. 14 shots in the database so far; my favorite doesn't have the most views but I really do love it:

ALCON,
Merry Christmas to you all! Unfortunately I am 0-17 this year (actually for the entire time I have been a member) so I really do not have much I can highlight at this point. Uploading 2 at a time makes for a long lag time getting pics on the site but I will do better this next year I hope.
How about this idea...What if A.net gives everyone a gift just this day, 25 Dec, each year? The gift is they will accept one picture if you only have only discrepancy. Two or more, you're out, but only one, and you are in.
The reason I was pleased with this one is because it was 'planned' in my head once I saw the environment that morning, and executing the plan was as much of the challenge as the normal process for us of editing to the standards required for here.
We have a 1800m runway at the airport, which is equipped with an ILS. Since this year, KLM's B777's started to get checks at Amsterdam and part of the acceptance procedure to get them back into service is of course a test flight. For the B747's, they used to go to Billund a lot and do flights over the North Sea.
Then much to my joy, they asked if they could make the ILS approach at our airport on the way back to Schiphol! That was quickly arranged and we've already "received" 5 B777's now. It's just incredible to see them roar by, at (VERY) low altitude, without touching the runway. Weather was just PERFECT and I had just gotten my 5D, which proved up to the task
Later that day, I read a thread on scramble that there was a photographer on board this very same flight, his photos can be found here: http://forum.scramble.nl/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=79461
As he wrote in the thread, the radio altimeter read 4ft at the lowest point. Now, I don't know where exactly the RA is located or which part of the gear it is calibrated for, but if you look at the pictures in that thread, it's LOW!
My colleague made a video with his phone, see here: http://youtu.be/M8RT1MzLDks

Good morning and Merry Christmas All!
It's been one of the more quiet years for me in terms of spotting trips but I did manage to get out to a few airports that I hadn't been to, and by far the best trip was the one to SEA this fall.

AIRLINERS.NET CREW HEAD SCREENER
Seasons greetings to all.....a short break from cooking
For me my memories are of the people I have met, a.net friends who I have met for the first time, Andrew Hunt and Simon Thomas amongst them. Also of the many friends I have renewed acquaintance with, Phil (the thread starter) and Ian Schofield amongst those and the many who I talk to but never meet
We can all have differences of opinion but it is still a good community to be a part of!
From an aviation point of view my highlight has to have been a flight in a Tiger Moth from Belvoir Castle, the de Havilland Moth Club fly-in and even, as I live very close, over my house.

Merry Christmas Phil (again!). 2011 wasn't a great year for me for many reasons but this is probably the one I'm most happy with. I suppose the light did it for me.

Quoting dendrobatid (Reply 14): You can even see my house on this one (if you know where to look)
Mick, that could only be the big green hangar at the bottom, the only building big enough to house your huge slide collection.
Impossible for me to choose just one photo; 2011 has been the year with the most uploads since I started here 8 years ago and I've had just too many photoshoots and great occasions to single out just one.
However, this one has been a special challenge on every possible level:

Best wishes to all, merry X-mas and all the best for 2012!
2011 has been a strange year, with lots of non-aviation work but with a few remarkable exceptions. One of these is pictured in what must be one of the most memorable moments (actually 70 minutes) of my life:

I haven't shot in 2 years.... I may need to pick up the camera and start again! Great photos all year from everyone, and amazing work presented in this thread as well.

0-18 is my acceptance ratio ......but next year, December 25th, 2012, I promise I'll have one on the database, and I'll post it the next time we have this thread!
As we took-off and made a tight turn to the north-west, I was delighted to see the Dubai skyline in the distance on an unusually clear day. What I didn't expect was our flight path taking me right over the surreal cityscape that is Downtown Dubai, which allowed me this view... A view that I thoroughly enjoyed!
I'm very fond of this photo, as it's my first accepted shot of a 747, and an Air India one at that. Those aren't going to be around much longer.

I didn't have very many uploads this year (compared to everyone else- I actually got more accepted this year than in past years), but that one makes for an easy decision.

AIRLINERS.NET CREW CUSTOMER SERVICE & SUPPORT
Merry Xmas to you all.
Well 2011 was a good year for me, I have a good number of successful trips for the first time to FRA and AMS and I have had some excellent advice from a number of A.net Photographers who have dramatically improved my editing skills. My thanks to all of you who have helped, I hope our dialogues in 2012 as as friendly, informative and interesting and I hope to meet those of you who I haven't met so far!
I would also thank all of you fellow photographers for the continued inspiration your shots bring to me, I visit A.net every day and I am constantly stunned by the creativity and expertise that you all bring to this site. I really enjoy your work and this site, may that long continue.
I think my personal favourite of the year was this one, I had nearly got it right on my three previous trips to LHR, I finally cracked it this time, the crossing traffic at the top was just a lucky bonus!
Running it a close second was this one, my second highest hit counter to date, it took a few attempts to get it through screening but I was delighted that it finally got through

Not necessarily the most exciting photograph but certainly one of my favorite aircraft that I successfully uploaded this year.

Other than that this years highlight was Putins IL-96 at CPH, but even though the image made it on here it's not that great.
