Hi guys,

anybody ever been to KIX and did some spotting?

When I departed there last time I saw some sort of observation deck, is that open to public?

Is it allowed to take pictures there?

Can one get good pictures there?

Anybody wants to join in?

Thanks for the help.

Hi Phil,

I heard KIX isn't thee best place to spot because of the direction facing from the viewing spot and the light situation but I have not been there yet, but the airport itself is beautiful. If you want some nice shots, Itami is great for spotting and viewing. I would like to go with you, but I live quite far from Osaka. (8+ hour drive) I am only 30 minutes drive from HND and about 1.5 hours from NRT so those are likely if you happen to stop by someday. Surely be great to chat with a 747 F/O and a chat moderator.   Cheers.

I have taken photos at the spotters deck, sure the light isn't always ideal, but it is a decent spot all the same. Well worth a visit - I got a T154 from Vladivostok Air last time I was there. I'm in Tokyo at the end of June to finish off my 6 week long European Spotting Tour, unfortunately unlikely to be near KIX though.

Thanks for the feedback and the help.

I decided not to go spotting, I enjoyed the city instead.

Maybe next time when I am around.

There you go. I sometimes don't understand why people travel 6,000 miles just to take pictures of airplanes and then fly back home and not visit the city. I can understand that if you work for the airlines because you can always come back.

It was a pretty grey day, but I did have some luck waiting for my domestic flight up to CTS. Very quiet, clean windows, no one asked me a thing (this is Japan, after all).
