I use DxO 6 so I can't comment specifically on 7, but, I can say that it's a great converter. It has body/lens modules for all my equipment except for my Sigma 150-500 and does a lot automatically like distortion correction that I would hate to have to do manually

I use the latest version 7.5 for batch processing large numbers of images. I get it to perform the basics, such as sharpening, noise reduction, lens correction, etc. It can take quite a while to start up, but once it's going it chugs along very nicely. If you're only processing a few images at a time, I think you may as well stay with Adobe Camera Raw or Lightroom or something like that.

I have been using dxo optics 6 and 7 for almost a couple of years. It does a great job for raw conversion, optics correction, and a lot of other things. Somehow I always end up doing the levels in photoshop though.

I do leveling, cropping all in DXO before treatment is launched. Treatment includes (for me) sharpening and is working good enough that i don't need to do anything else before uploading.
By the way dxo is multicore-friendly so on my quadcore can work 4 pics a time (can be nice because when working a big batch of pics it can take some time).

I'm a paying customer of DxO 7 Elite (7.5 after upgrades). I do all my pre-processing in it and also keep a queue of photos to be fixed in it. Mainly use it for Level, Crop, Colour noise reduction and Sharpening....which works WAY better than v6...would say even better than PS5. Some fixes are automatic, like lens distortion...HDR adjustment I usually turn off or just let it do minimal amount. Also the multi-core capability makes V7 way faster than V6.
