Hello as the topic reads...
Where in Europe is the best location to spot a DC-8 (in service)?
Since I would really like to get a picture of one that is still active and I don't wanna travel too far. This is probably the best place to ask.

Regards and thanks for replies!

To see one, you might catch VP-BHS, a reengined VIP machine, but obviously doesn't operate to a schedule so it's pure luck if you see her.

And there's this French military aircraft in storage at Le Bourget.

Anyone know anything about this aircraft, obviously very much operational, being overhauled in Jo'burg in March 2012. Never heard of the airline, Stars Away Aviation, although it looks like they're a semi-established cargo airline. Aircraft use to operate in Europe, as recently as 2010.

It's a frequent visitor to GVA, like most large VIP aircraft. It's been to GVA 2 or 3 times this month so far.

VP-BHS was in Sweden a couple of months ago. But didn't get her in flight just a pic when she was parked. But Geneva seems like a possible destination then but doesn't anyone konw a location which the DC8 visits more frequent?

If you can get to Azores. ATI fly's there daily.
Otherwise I would also advise GVA, but there you would have to count your chickens.

Then fly to BWI. Not only you will get DC-8, but also BAc 1-11s.

The DC-8s sure, but those BAc 1-11s can be hard to catch if you are not a regular!

That was at STN 3 wks ago as well. (Along with An SP and B744 of Oman, both regulars). Then last week a nice AN-12. STN is a gold mine.

The problem with this A/C is that you don't know where it will go. So hunting this frame is hopeless unfortunately.
