Recently read this great article posted in The Age newspaper in Australia about the best 'Runway Rooms', or spotting hotels.

http://www.theage.com.au/travel/runway-rooms-20120816-24b2o.html

Was wondering if there are any more you'd recommend?

At Manchester the Radisson BLU at the airport is a must - just remember to order a business class room facing the apron between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.

I have thought of flying to Atlanta for a weekend and staying here. They have rooms that overlook the airport and runways.

This has the map and shows the proximity to the runways/airport:

From the exterior there appear to be balconies.

I think it is cool, but then again I like planes too much.

The Renaissance at LAX. If you stay there you have access to the parking garage. Go to the top level and you get shots like this, you can shoot all the 24R arrivals, also a very nice hotel!

Except that the hotel security doesn't like that and will probably ask you to leave. I had that twice in 2010 when I was staying in that hotel.

Cheers!

I never had a problem with security in 6 days. Were you staying there?

Yes, for 5 nights. But, good to read that you didn't experience any problems. That means that the hotel can remain on my list for a nice place to stay when spotting  .

Cheers!
