I agree strongly with Robin. As a Manchester photographer, I can assure you that photos will be better taken from the south side of the runways - especially at that time of day. As you have your own transport, then this should not be a problem, especially if you don't mind walking a little way.
The site above, plus Google, should give you the directions you need for where to go. If the 23 runways are in use, driving to the Manchester Airport Holiday Inn area off the A538 (soon after the tunnels under the runways) is a good place to head, and then walk from there.

I normally park on the verge on the corner where that brownish car is. I don't park in the lane as it is very narrow and the hotel courtesy bus uses that lane. I haven't been to that area for a while but some of the path alongside the runway is VERY muddy. Almost impassable in some bits - and that was in July! I wore boots but wellingtons would have been better.
