I own a Canon Eos 1100D and through research i found out that this camera and others in the entry level DSLR market have a particular effect of making the photo curve or make it bend to seem convex and ruin the effect of the photo. I would like to ask your advice on how I can negate this effect, either through using a different lens or through editing or any other means. I would love to hear your feedback. Thanks

Its the lens, not the camera which causes the distortion. You would need to spend serious amounts of money on a wide angle lens to get no distortion! Some degree of distortion is normal - you will have to decide what is acceptable to you.
Happily it can be easily corrected to a large extent in the more recent versions of Photoshop (and I presume other products).

Are you thinking of lens distortion? This is more a function of the lens, not the camera body. All lenses have distortion one way or another, pincushion or barrel, but some lenses control it better than others. The angle of the lens also effects it, eg an ultra wide lens normally shows it more hen a telephoto but it varies from lens to lanes. It's certainly not a problem with your camera body.

Thank you colin and darren,
It was the barrel effect i was thinking of, just couldn't remember the name. Thank god this is a lens effect only! I couldn't afford another camera. I was thinking of getting another lens and this was my first choice as it offers both a good wide angle and telephoto capability
