If you read my previous posts, you will know that I am taking a trip this summer and connecting at EWR and FRA. I was wondering where (What terminal, concourse, ect.) I should go to get good pictures of planes and the runway at EWR. I was also looking for an updated list of every airline that flies into EWR and every destination and aircraft that is sent. I have looked at some sites like wikipedia (of course) but with the recent additions like Icelandair, Virgin America and other UA destinations being added, I was wondering if there was a database that was accurate and up to date. I want to know all this information so I can figure out where to go to get the best pictures and spotting opportunities. Thanks to all the people who answer all my questions in advance!

Take a look at FlightAware for a few days and jot down flights that look interesting to you - not sure what you're after, but the list of really interesting stuff shouldn't be that long. Then, go to the individual airline web sites and look up their schedules for your date. It's far from scientific but will help you plan your trip.
EDIT: With regard to the second part of your question, you can scroll back in FlightAware to the previous Wednesday to see flights. You have a few weeks before your trip, so if you do that for a few weeks in a row you'll have a good idea of the regular traffic for that day.

Thanks for the suggestions. I decided to go onto Kayak and "book flights" from different airlines and their destinations. I was able to find the arrivals and departures for all the major airlines on the date. I will post it here for the benefit of others once I am finished.

This list is for a Wednesday June 5 and is specialized for my connection times so I have left blanks. There is an another SAS flight to Copenhagan you should check KAYAK. I will update it a little later. Enjoy!!
For the person who is going to go to EWR, can you post a Trip report of pictures! Link it on this thread please too!

Thanks to everyone who has given information so far especially 727LOVER,
To keep the ball rolling in this thread (My 8 hours at EWR are going to be amazing because of this thread) does anyone know if the active runways change based on the wind conditions and if that changes where you should go to do spotting. I want to be able to predict where to go the night before flying because I will know the wind direction by then.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but... if it's blowing from the north:
4L is used for takeoffs and 4R is used for landings
If the winds shift to the opposite direction (south, southwest, southeast I don't know it's whatever),
22R is used for takeoffs and 22L is used for landings.
In terms of where to go, you could drive up and down Route 95... just kidding ALTHOUGH it's fun to try to race to planes I suggest you try it, anyways, uhhhh.... 727LOVER, got anything? If this was Boston I could help you.
Oh I am no EWR expert by any means. I haven't even been there since 2006. But perimeter wise, EWR is very hard. If you are at the gate 87-88 spot, you'll be able to watch all ops on the 4s/22s no matter the wind direction.
Listen Betty, don't start up with your 'White Zone' s*** again.
Very true, very true. If you look on Google Maps around EWR, you'll notice that on all four sides there is virtually NO WHERE to stand and photograph nice heavies taking off into the sunset. In all seriousness, Route 95 is literally your best bet, I got a few nice shots of a Jetblue A320 landing parallel to my Honda.
Get someone to drive you though because you'll soon find yourself experiencing a highway incursion if you don't look at the road ahead.

I was there on Friday to catch the United Retro jet departing. As soon as I got set up in my spot, thinking there was no reason for them to switch, they switched. Two minutes of silence was the only clue before I was looking at landing lights. And of course, I missed the United. But not without cursing up a storm.
So, apparently, wind direction isn't the only factor, because there was no change in the wind, as shown by the flag I was observing.

There are some spots off airport where you could shoot from, but local law enforcement is VERY aggressive about moving you out if you have a camera. For all the shooting I've done around NYC, I've never bothered with EWR.

With airlines leaving EWR like Alitalia and Singapore, does anyone know about any airlines that are going to come in to EWR. I'm kind of sad that all of EWR's traffic is going to JFK. I don't want EWR to become just a UA airport. UAis also focusing on IAH, ORD, and SFO and I feel that everyone is just pushing EWR down. Thoughts Anyone??

The north parking is a good spot for overhead shots as pointed out by 727Lover, and I spent a nice afternoon there a few years ago. I kept a low profile, only exiting my car when something I wanted to photograph was in range. Even better, if you could find a place to sit in your car and take pictures, you'd probably be in great shape. Be aware that when I was there the daily rate for the lot was $15, and I was a bit dismayed when I exited after about 90 minutes that the rate was not pro-rated. I guess $15 for 90 minutes of entertainment isn't that bad, and one of my shots taken that day is among my top 5 most popular shots on A.net. Well worth the money.
