I am thinking of spending some hours next weekend on spotting at YVR. This will be my 1st time here, and hence I am looking for some suggestions from experts and locals who know this place. I will be coming from US for a general weekend trip and would like to know what's the best spot and at what time of the day.
I will have a range of 18-300 for the pictures.
Also, is this a spotter friendly place? Coming from a different country, I want to avoid any sort of trouble.

Well there is a parking lot by 26R for the train station, but you would have to pay to park there. It might be worth it, but you might be kicked out if security notices that you are just in the lot to take pictures. I'm not an expert on the area, I've only been there once, but I hope this helps.

The parking lot adjacent to the train station is for airport employees only, so you will not be able to park there, but there is a dirt strip next to Templeton St. that is free to park, and you will see many people there watching/spotting.
I'll be around today, so drop me a line if you'd like more info.
