Hi guys, some one PM'ed me earlier in the day when they came across this account on instagram

http://instagram.com/arvplanegallery#

They had shots of mine up, which they had removed my watermark from. Those images are now down, after I gave the user a bit of a spray, but there is plenty I see there from this site, that the user is claming he took including shots like this http://instagram.com/p/azsr-_TPj-/ .

FWIW instagrams reporting service for copyright infringements sucks. So I have not filed anything because I get a 404 error.

Cheers.

Appears to be another one of those who seems to think that anything and everything posted on the Internet is free for the taking, copyrights and intellectual properties be damned. They seem to think that removing the copyright bars makes it alright to use someone else's works without properly crediting them. It's been an ongoing issue on Facebook for quite some time now and it appears that Instagram is the latest venue for such blatant misuse of photos from the A.net database. Do they not think that regular visitors and/or members of this site (and other sites) aren't going to find out about their pages?

I'm all for shaming these folks by calling them out here and on their pages and posting links to the originals on their pages. That's pretty much the only option some of us have since reporting the photos for copyright/IP infringement is in the hands of the photographer(s) whose photo(s) are being used in this manner.

What do you expect, they're owned by Facebook. Facebook makes reporting things downright difficult, not just copyright and IP infringement stuff.

HA! He even commented on that Thomas Cook Scandinavia A321 and I quote, "Actually this is not my pic!" As if that actually means anything!? He still stole it, you can't just say "Here's a photo and by the way it's not mine"

I also enjoy when people say "No copyright infringement intended" WHAT? You can't just take the photograph and use it without the photographer's permission and give credit to them.

The only reason I'm so frustrated is due to the fact that he is getting positive feedback for these pictures.
Pictures that other people put hard work into getting the shot and editing.

Luckily there are people commenting in these photos, calling him out for stealing like he should be. If people keep doing this, he might just delete his account.

I emailed with a selection of photos from here that were on the instagram site and got this reply earlier

Hi,

Thanks for bringing this matter to our attention. However, for us to process a report alleging infringement or violation of legal rights, that report would need to come from someone authorized to act on behalf of the rights owner. If you believe others' rights may be infringed by content on the site, you may wish to contact the rights owner directly.

Thanks,

Sandy

So, there is a responsive human at the other end, but, as I read it, you have to report that your own photos have been copied.

I got the same email reply. Even though my photos were some stolen. What a crock of shit.

I am one of the people calling him out on those photos.

Good news! You don't have to worry about instagram taking his pics down, he said he is going to stop posting pictures from now on. Wooooo!

.....

Although those pictures are still up there for people to see, it's better than nothing.

Same case when reporting folks on Facebook for doing the same thing. If I recall, Demand Media has been able to get a few photos and pages taken down from Facebook by reporting the copyright violations as some of the photos on some pages still had A.net copyrights visible.

It's pretty much SOP on social media sites that copyright and IP infringements can only be reported by the person whose works are being infringed. You would think that providing a link to the photos here in a report would be a way to get it addressed by sites, but it's not.

More than likely, this person will start up a new account and keep stealing photos from here and other sites. This has happened on multiple occasions on Facebook after members here barraged those pages with the links to the photos that had been stolen from here. One guy tried to say that the photographers did not own their photos and that the airlines whose planes were photographed did and started a page comparing aviation photographers to the Taliban.

Going through some older threads on this topic, one page that was previously reported on last year is still stealing photos from the site:

Sadly, all of these accounts below, have stolen pictures, I guess these days people just think they can take what ever they want just because they can hit copy and paste.
