Hello All!

I am planning to go to California sometime soon, and would like to spend a day spotting at LAX.

I have seen some excellent photos by select photographers in the A.net database taking from LAX.

Here are some of the shots I am thinking of:

http://www.airliners.net/photo/Virgi...d=0b43c086d368296e601678e4c6e09135

Does anyone know where these were taken?

Are there some more spots that you recommend to photographers like me?

Thanks!

Calvin

PS: I would especially like to go to the location where this great shot was taken  http://www.airliners.net/photo/Singa...d=0b43c086d368296e601678e4c6e09135

1 Heli
2 Airside (you're not getting here without knowing someone.. And not many people know these contacts to get here)
3 Heli
4 By In-N-Out
5 A terminal carpark garage

It's all about the destination AND the journey.

Cool! How do you get into a Heli? How much $$$?

How do you get to the terminal carpark garage?

Does anyone else know of any other great spots to go to for photographers at LAX? Directions would be great!

Also, does anyone one know where this was taken? http://www.airliners.net/photo/Asian...Airlines/Boeing-747-48E/2283129/M/

Thanks,

Calvin

Isn't that one from inside a terminal? could be wrong, I just seem to recall seeing shots like that.

Well, I suppose the easiest way is to park in it.

Looks like another heli shot.

Depends on the time of year. But here are a few:

Park by the In'n'Out - 24R/L approaches; best on summer mornings/evenings:

Check out Star Helicopters, they've made helicopter spotting quite easy. The rates aren't cheap, but honestly I'm surprised that it doesn't cost more. If it's just you, their Robinson R22 goes for $290/hour. You can put a group of three into an R44 for $500/hour.

Specifically, a short walk to the south of the famous In-N-Out, on Sepulveda boulevard. People say "In-N-Out" but depending on the light, you may want to move somewhat away from it to get a more favorable angle.

Looks like Westchester Pkwy has regular sidewalks there. I assume you park on Loyola Blvd and just walk south? I'm going to be there in a couple of weeks and will definitely check out that spot.

Thanks to all for the great information!

Regarding the heli rental... I have a Nikon D3100 and a 70-300mm lense; is that sufficient?

Great! I am planning to go during the winter! (Mid-late December).

Thanks again,
