The section between the UPS ramp and the Roush 727s near the old terminal looks like it may be good for close in shots of aircraft taxiing after landing 18L or departing 36R, especially with the afternoon sun. Any problems with law enforcement chasing you away from the parking lot there? Any other places around the perimeter for decent shooting?

I've been there a couple of times without incident, although I was only there an hour or so each time.

You can also get shots through the fence over by the Wilson FBO. Again, I don't hang around there, just get what I'm getting an go, but I've been at the fence with the camera while FBO employees walked past without confronting me.

The area you're talking about, I have photographed from there, but I was always looking over my shoulder. I've also shot 36R afternoon approaches from that industrial park to the south.

There is the museum in the NE corner....good for 18L rare landings and for taxi/lineup 18L takeoffs.

Yes, they stopped Rwy 23 landings about a month ago, just as I was checking out spots for that runway. They are using 18L for more landings as a result.

There's also a parking garage that is on the corner of Wilkinson and Harlee. I have not been there, so I'm not sure how long you will be able to take pics before eventually being approached. This area will give you good views when 18L is being used and even 18C with a good zoom. This would be ideal for morning pics when the sun is east of the airport.

The area where the old terminal can be good, but just be smart about what you do (i.e., no hanging out at the fences).

Looks like if you take Minuteman Way all the way down until it dead-ends, there is an area I've parked in before. Was not really useful before but if 18L is seeing more landings then it would be good for afternoons. One would be almost under the runway.

By the way, looking at the google satellite, the museum appears empty, no aircraft and I can't even see the benches. Is it still open? I thought they moved Hudson River plane there.

Unfortunately the museum is no longer in this location. They are now in an old corporate hangar near the intersection of runways 18L & 23. But it might offer some good photos of 18L arrivals in the morning - again rwy 23 has not been in use for a few weeks now. Just look for the DC-7 in Eastern colors parked outside.

There is a LOT of clutter (i.e. airstairs and other ground equipment) over near the Roush-Fenway 727s, and along the fenceline there although you may be able to find a gap here or there. Definitely the most unobstructed view you'll find is at the overlook on the west side of runway 18C.

Last summer I got a few shots of 18L departures lining up while at the museum.
