Has anyone noticed a recent trend on flickr that photographers or contributors are scanning slides of aircraft and passing these photos (images) as their own? Based on my observations, some contributors are not entirely honest in disclosing that they are not the original photographer!

Just interested to see what the feelings are in the aviation community. Your thoughts?

Do you have some examples? I haven't noticed much of it.

I did notice one person uploading a lot of slides recently, but I'm pretty sure they're legit and his. He has a lot of great oldies on this site aswell. Other than that, I can't say I've noticed other people uploading lots of slides or being guilty of plagiarism.

A couple of examples, I think someone has scanned Tony's, Wingnut's and Gerhard's slides and uploaded these to flickr as if they their own. Obviously if you sell a slide, you do lose ownership and control.

In comparison, if you look at the rest of the flickr photographer's more recent photos, the quality just isn't there, so I thought something was not quite right.

I've got another example but that will get the ball rolling.

No defence, I would say. In the first instance I would e-mail the person and explain that what he is doing is not on. That may have the desired effect. The next step would be to formally complain, with evidence, to Flickr. I did this in the past and it was effective in having a person delete my images from his photostream, though he was hostile about having to do so.

For sure those slide images aren't his, they are pretty stunning images, while his newer stuff is garbage.

It's weak he scans them and doesn't give credit. I could understand an image or two, things get mixed up, memories fade, but claiming the whole lot is ridiculous.

irish251 - these aren't my photos, so it isn't in my remit to email flickr, etc. In comparison, there are photos of the Sistine Chapel on flickr and I very much doubt they are taken by the contributor!

I actually think some of the images above are a simple rip from anet.

Here's another photographer with a 'slide collection'. Needless to say, I'm slightly sceptical as to whether they are all the photographer's photos. You can be the judge.
