The photo below is taken by my father at Singapore Changi Airport.
As you can see the registrations are taken away (except for the letters KK at the nose wheels) as well as 2 engines. Does anyone know the (previous) owner c/n registration and maybe if this B747-300 and the one behind will fly again some time?????

I think it is an old Singapore Airlines 747-300 which now is impounded and waits to get demoloshed. But I am not sure..

It's 9V-SKK. It's one of several -300s in storage at SIN.

Last rumor I heard was that UPS was interested in them as an alternative to new -400Fs. Only a rumor though.

My guess is that the engines were pulled for overhaul. These a/c are too valuable and have way too few hours on them to be scrapped. Singapore's -300s were built 1983-87.

Hi,

I think it is (or was) the 9V-SKK.
There's another photo at A.N. of a white 744 taken at Singapore Changi Airport which is the -SKK:

So if it is the -SKK the previous owner was Singapore Airlines and the c/n is 23244/621.

The "JP airline fleets 2000" shows that all SIA their 743 are stored at Changi and are for sale.
The JP also says that the 9V-SKK and 9V-SKL had to be leased to Africa Star. Maybe that was aborted...

Hope this will help you.

Best regards,

I believe 3 of the stored SIA B747-300s are headed for South Africa, not for African Star (which seems to have faded off the scene) but for South African Airways.

SAA announced recently that they were to take delivery of 5 B747-300s. The first two are confirmed as ex-Swissair HB-IGE & HB-IGF, and the other 3 would be ex-SIA. Reserved registrations are ZS-SKA thru -SKE.

SAA already operate two ex-SIA 743s, ZS-SAC (ex N120KF) and ZS-SAJ (ex N116KB).
