Hi Guys,

I know that, quite often Dean and Gary go to LHR sometime during August for a couple of days (I recall Paul being there too last year??). Now I also know that alot of people are out at LHR during this month, so why not make an 'unofficial date' for a meeting, I must not be the only one who wants to see Colin, Gary, Chris, Jason, Paul, and by that time Andy Martin ( Big grin) fighting it out with their Digital SLR's, not to mention all those other guys who shoot at LHR!

What do you say? If we could all make it down to LHR while Gary was down from Aberdeen, if he is coming down from Aberdeen, I think it would be quite a day!

Just imagine the Dupes  Wow!

How about it? Your comments

Regards

Dan

Jason and I have already talked about the idea of getting a whole load of us together for a kind of "digital shootout" (frankly the idea terrifies me!) - but the logistics of it are likely to be a nightmare; trying to get so many photogs together in the same place on the same day! J and I have been trying to arrange a day to shoot together since we last met up on December 8, and we haven't managed it yet!  Nuts

(and you just KNOW that if we all arranged a day when we could be at LHR, it would go and RAIN on us, don't you? Paul's bobble hat would get wet! Smile/happy/getting dizzy)

Dont worry about dupes if your sensible it doesnt happen. Form our trip to LHR last year I dont think there are any the same on Airliners from Gary, Dean and myself, mind you think I have only uploaded less then 10 out of the 1400  Big grin

Depending on work im up for a get together, you never know we may even persuade Andy over from Switzerland  Smile

Cheers

Paul

I like the "shootout" idea!! I think ZRH would be a fine place to do it. Lots of different spots!!  Big thumbs up
Or we could do it at VIE so that people have more time to talk together and to realy between the arrivals and departures Big grin

I am definately hitting London this year. My preference would be May or July (I'm in the Army in June), as it shouldn't be as hot, and the days are longest. How's the weather during those months?

I'd be glad to meet with you guys.

Cheers,

Charles

Well I'd be up for it work committments permitting ... even if a lot of dups were shot, it might be interesting to compare results of equipment variations in this forum.

Cheers,

Colin

Charles, you can't rely on the weather any month of the year at LHR. Frequently, we end up with a sudden unexpected hot and sunny spell sometime in the spring (March-April) then seem to have hardly any sunshine again until July...  Nuts

But yes, just from the point of view of getting plenty of daylight, May or July are not a bad bet. I'll certainly join in, provided it doesn't clash with a weekend I have to work.

I will, of course, be there.  Big grin

I have to say that, in terms of variety of shooting options, LHR isn't what I would call the best airport. I have been led to believe by Peter that ZRH is much better for this sort of thing. Of course, an outing to LHR doesn't feel very 'exciting' given that I only live 20 miles away!

Well, I have to admit that my travel 'options' are 'limited', ie. I have no money, and I have to have transport from my parents (I haven't been allowed to go to the airport on my own, my goodness, shows my age!!!  Big grin). So I guess, the only place I could make it to apart from LHR would be MAN or LGW, or maybe even AMS depending on the date/weather/time etc.

I was just planning it on Gary Watt's usual pilgramage to LHR in August Big grin

regards

Dan

There will probably be a northern 'a.net' convention at EDI when the French rugby supporters arrive/depart around the weekend March 22nd <> March 24th. The charter list I've seen looks pretty good. I won't name the photogs, but including myself, I reckon there will be around seven guys who upload into this website.... and not forgetting many more NIF's (slide/print shooters) who submit their shots into the mainstream magazines.

I thought I'd mention it here.

In case anyone is interested Im at LGW all day next Tuesday. You can see me at the observation deck or 26 holding point at some point during the day. But if its pissing rain, which apparently its going to be, Im headin' into town. Its actually quite funny, Ben and I are swopping airports for the day, he's coming to DUB and Im going to LGW.......its a small world !

What do you mean 'as good as'? LOL, I think most people who have been to NCL believe it is pretty dyer for photography/spotting compared to most UK airports.

where is Gary btw?
