Hi all,
I uploaded a few photos over a week ago. No news. Does this mean the screeners have seen them and passed them onto Johan OR no one has seen them?
I have quite a few photos to upload at the moment and have spare time. I'd like to know EXACTLY how it works please

Ben,
there seems to be a lot of confusion about the screening process.
As far as I understood it, nothing has changed except the fact that photos that are added by a photographer that has already pics waiting in the queue are added to the end of the queue and not to the waiting batch as it was before.
In the future, the number of screeners is planned to be increased. Additionally, the screeners will be given the ability to add photos to the database directly while Johan only handles hot new items that require immediate processing.
The fate of "High Quality" pics is quite controverse as it would make no sense if HQ photos need 3 votes to be added to the database while the screeners can also add a photo with a single vote.
I hope I got all the facts right, but I'm prepared to be corrected.

Frank - as I understand it (or at least as it is written on the upload page) not only do new submissions go to the back of the queue (quite rightly), but any pics that photographer may already have in the queue are also moved to the back of the queue. Apparently this is in order to keep all pics from one photog together (why this is important, I have no idea) and also to discourage frequent uploading until the screening problem is sorted.
In practice, it doesn't seem to be working quite like that, but that's the theory anyway ..

Now here's the thing I dont understand.
I already had some shots waiting for Johans attention, there were like 128 pics in front of me. I then added some more so there were 3000ish in front of me.
Johan has checked through my shots and added/rejected but Im still in the back of the queue! Is there a backlog with the screeners (yes i know you all have jobs) as I havent heard anything about those that were uploaded but not checked by Johan.

The thing that encoraged me back to uploading here is because the screeners meant I got information on the status of my uploads quickly which was really good.
But now it seems that there is less of an insentive to upload(?)
Anyway...Does anyone know what the result was of the 'We need screeners' e-mail?

The "we need screeners" email has generated a large number of responses. Johan will announce shortly which "lucky" (???) people have been chosen from all those who applied.

Colin,
does that mean as soon as you upload a picture, all of your pictures waiting in the upload queue are shifted in one batch to the end of the queue?
If one or more of those waiting in the queue are considered as HQ, are they added immediately while the others are still waiting HQ votes or screening by Johan?
Regarding the batches: I think photos of each photographers are kept in batches because Johan (or the upload scripts) does not want to send an e-mail out for every single picture. Imagine you have uploaded 20 pics and you receive 20 confirmation (or rejection) e-mails.
I hope Johan clarifies the current confusion once the new screening system is established!

Hello!
Here´s my point of view on this new system: IT IS BETTER THAN THE OLD ONE! Why?
The waiting time will be much shorter than it used to be because the number of photos waiting ahead of anybody can´t increase!
Some guys used to upload on a daily basis, so I like the way it is at the moment! Sure, some still have more to "share" than others. Me too, I live near to FRA and could upload hundreds of pictures every week, but I select only some shots, even 90% could make it. You all know how many complained when we had the old system because we had to wait up to 2 months because some guys used to upload on a daily basis. I hope that this will not come back! Please wait a few months and see how it works and don´t come back telling us: "I want to upload more, but I don´t want to go to the back of the queue..."!
Me too! I also want to upload many pics but how about uploading 10 shots, waiting until they get accepted/rejected and THEN you can go on.
Please note that the fact of uploading constantly was responsable that things got out of hands! It was time for a change, and this solution is maybe not the best, but better than the old one.
Everybody should try to help to improve the situation by limiting himself.
So, LGW and some others, if we could still upload and upload and upload without being pushed to the back, what would be the solution for our problem?
Hang on a few weeks, see how long it will take compared to earlier, and then we can discuss it again if necessary!

I have to say the 'new solution' looks terrible from where I'm sitting. I uploaded a load of stuff a while ago and nothing's happened with 'em. When you're used to getting HQ acceptances in a day or two it's hard... plus I dare not upload anything else for fear of losing my spot hence the users of the site are denied the opportunity of seeing my shots TWICE. Once because the stuff in the Q isn' t moving and once because I'm holding back loads of stuff so I don't lose my place.
