Can anyone tell me how to give a picture feathered edges using Photoshop 4 LE? Even trying to follow the info in the help section, I still cant get my selection to convert into a pic with feathered edges.
I suppose its dead easy and I'm doing something really styoopid.

Use the selection box and set it to feather 10 pixels, select what you want to feather, then inverse the selection, and hit delete, that should do it.
Note that you have to make the selection a little smaller than the image for it to work.
The amount of feathering you have to adjust to your needs.

Another question. I got it working but the background colour is always white. Is there any way I can change the background colour to match the web page background or can it be made transparent?

Don't think it's not possible to make the feathering transparent. But in the tool field, where you have two coloured boxes cascading over each other, you just change the back one to what ever colour you want to have.
