Guys,
If you use VueScan against a Minolta Scan Dual II, you might want to download the latest version of VueScan - v7.5.11
Basically, just recently, my scans all seemed to be rather soft. So I'd sharpen, unsharp, blah, blah, blah, but I'd still get results that just didn't look like those I was getting six months ago. I was rapidly getting to the point where I was wondering whether the scanner was shagged. I even got a warning from Johan about a "soft" photo I uploaded - how scary is that?
Well, during a moment of bordem today at work I went to hamrick.com and was looking through the new release notes for VueScan. Low and behold, it said v7.5.something improved focusing with the Minolta Dual Scan II, and then there were several other updates in 7.5 relating to the Scan Dual II. So I rushed home and downloaded 7.5.11.
What a difference. My confidence in my scanner is restored. a.net beware - a load of new Andy Martin scans are heading your way now that I have renewed faith!
Simply put, if you use VueScan, especially if you have a Minolta Dual Scan II, you might want the latest version of the software.
