Can anybody please give me a tip on where to go
to take lots and lots of aircraft photos.
Last year I went to Schiphol, Son San Juan (Mallorca)
and Heathrow-Gatwick-Luton. Son San Juan was a
very hostile airport when it comes to photography.
I went there before 2001-09-11 and airport security gave me a hard time. Went to London after
2001-09-11 and had no problem with the authorities.
Took a load of nice pictures there.
My regards to the London airport authorities.
You know whats it's all about and don't hazzle innocent
people (like photographers).
Anyway, the spring is coming and I get spring feelings.
Meaning I want to load my bag with lots of film and go
to some nice airport in Europe and shoot (not by the
letter) aircraft.
I would appreciate any advice on where to go for the
best photo opportunities.
Regards, Janne.

I find that Brussel is excellent for aviation photography.

There is just one problem: there are almost no heavies here  Crying
If you come to Brussels, mail me, and I will give you some tips, departure and arrival information.

Regards,
Sabena 690

Try Innsbruck in Austria. You have a small regional airport surrounded by high mountains - a great scenery. But no heavies here ...

SXM, INN, ZRH, LAX can be nice if there is no smog/fog, CFU looks awsome.

I doubt that Bernd. I don't think Bagdad is a nice airport to photograph airplanes, which is a shame because they have nice weather there most of the time. Big grin

After VIE the second largest airport in Austria.

Not to much traffic during the week. But Saturday is good most of the time. Now and then there are some interesting aircraft at SZG.

Saudia Arabian Airlines for example!

And if there is little traffic, you can visit the city of Salzburg (birth town of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart)! Not to forget all of the cultural sites and beautiful city surroundings.
:D

Assume you enquire about Europe?

I tend to migrate south (in the UK) in Winter. The London area has infinite variety. LHR, LGW, LTN, STN, LCY for major airports. Northolt for military / executives. Going down the scale to General Aviation / executives you have Biggin Hill, Elstree, Denham, Redhill, Fairoaks, White Waltham, Stapleford, Wycombe (Booker), Farnborough all relatively easy by public transport (20 min walk max) and other places easy in a day trip are SEN, CVT, BHX, SOU, CBG, NWI, Oxford, Manston, Shoreham, Goodwood, Popham, Blackbushe, Lyneham, Headcorn, perhaps BRS, even Staverton, plus Mildenhall and Lakenheath (military by Jetlink coach) which means you (I) don't get bored all year round...
