Hi Zach,

When I was shopping around for a film scanner I remember wondering the same thing myself. From what I remember the hardware is the same and it is just the bundled software that varies.

Hope that helps,
bodobodo

Hi all

I am still thinking about a film scanner but I recently read that the S20 has now been discontinued.

Is this correct?

I don't believe the S20 has been discontinued... But, I wouldn't be too surprised if HP came out with a new Photosmart in the near future. Ever since Minolta came out with the Scan Dual II, the S20 doesn't seem like such a good value anymore (unless you want the print scanning capability as well).

BTW, if anyone is interested, I am now selling my S20...

Hi Aric

Can you tell me, did you scan negatives on the HP20 and if so , how good did they turn out......both aircraft and tornadoes!

Or was it just slides.

Gary,

I don't scan negatives very often... But, I have scanned Fuji Reala 100 and Agfa Optimia 100 with the S20, both turned out very well. Now, if it only had a slide/film carriage....
